William “Bill” M. Lehr, 91, of Temperance, MI, died Friday, December 22, 2017, at Vibrant Life Senior Living. Born November 28, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of Marcus and Edith (Redman) Lehr.  A graduate of the former Libby High School, he then served his country in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean War. Bill was employed as a stereotyper and pressman for the Toledo Blade for 20 years, retiring in 1991.  Prior, he was employed by Atlas Electrotype. The widow of Dorothy Keller,  together they enjoyed country music and got to know quite a few of the entertainers on a personal level.    Bill and Dorothy traveled in their motor home through 48 states and Canada meeting people and having a good time.  They got to know the family carving the mountain in South Dakota dedicated to the Indian Chief, Crazy Horse.  After Dorothy’s passing, Bill would take a car full of grandkids out west every year to show them the history of the American West.  Something they will always remember.  Bill’s last trip out west was in the summer of 2012. Bill has 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren with whom he shared his love of trains. He will always be remembered for his love for his family, which showed through his very generous and giving heart.  He always said “In lieu of flowers at my funeral, take a good friend to lunch”

Bill is survived by his loving children, David (Sandy) Lehr, Daniel (Cindy) Lehr, Sandra (Larry) Howard, Robert (Mary) Lehr, Sharon (Lou) Lucas and Dorothy Renee (Melvin) Ennis, 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lehr and sister, Rhoda Chapman.

Visitation will be from 3-8 pm, Thursday, December 28, 2017, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, December 29, 2017.  Entombment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation, 12151 Ave of the Chiefs, Crazy Horse, SD 57730 or Promedica Hospice.
